So much information, Its outstanding Guys !
Next question for you then, I own a AccuMate model (MIM8BCO6V) Bought it for a DRZ Enduro .. Will it be ok to use on the R1200GS. From what i have read on here, am i right in thinking that it will be OK only if its direct to the battery ???

You can't plug it into the accessory socket and expect it to work. The 1200 switches off the socket with the ignition off unless the charger tells the bike it was made by BMW and sold to you for £60.

You can wire it across the battery directly. However, I have heard that the desulphate mode on some of these smart chargers could trash the bike's electrics. I don't know this and haven't heard of it happening to anyone but ownership of this bike comes with angst and worry;)

Personally, I wouldn't use a charger that has a desulphate mode unless the battery was disconnected. But some have without problems.

Wether it'll work depends on the software IMHO. With my old 54 reg lightweight 1200 GS you had to go through the ignition on etc procedure, new 07 heavyweight 1200 GSA just plug it in and it charges  no need to put the ignition on etc etc.

BTW it's the same £20 basic trickle charger from Motobins IIRC. Bargain, £20 charger that's as clever as a £60 plus one. :)
