Went out to buy a battery charger today and spent more than I had wanted :blast

Was going to go for a CTEK xs3600 which seem like a good choice for car and bike. Would have had to use it directly on the battery of the bike rather than use the socket thing. BUT couldn't find one in any accessories shop.

So popped into Vines to see what they had. They sold me a BMW one for £99.99. Anyone for one of these and comment on how good they are? :nenau
It can be plugged into the socket thingy and has clips for going directly at the battery. Can do both gel and lead acid batteries.

Costco in Reading were selling the Cteks for under £40

:eek:How friggin much????!!!!!!!!!

Are you sure you want to carry on with this thread? Could have got a charger AND decent emergency booster for less than that ...........

Pfft, is that all you got for the money ?
I've bought a bike for that much.

Hundred notes for a battery charger.....fek me. Been using an optimate for the last 7 years, cost me a fraction of that. Why does everybody want to connect it to the socket??

Pre-wire a waterproof optimate connector and tie rap so it pops out just under the seat and you get the same convenience of a plug in charger without the complexity and cost of a BMW charger :blast

Which is actually a very good idea, why didn't I think of that ?
Thanks very much for the tip.

Slightly off topic, sorry.

You've got a good charger that does exactly what you want..................... but you paid a lot for it. I bought one in Aberdeen (of all places) for £60. Has your dealer not made a mistake on the price? - I know the € is battering the £ but should not affect things that quickly.

The one I got today is not the "standard" one that people usually know about. I haven't seen it before. Does anyone have this one and got it for less than what I paid? :nenau

Key words "Vines of Guildford".

Reassuringly expensive....

Edit: No, shame on me, I've looked again and I see it now. Comes complete with 2 rawl plugs AND 2 screws. Suddenly everything is clear. Presumably an Assist man rocks up and fixes it to your garage wall whilst his plump breasted assistant makes you a genuine kedgeree breakfast and rubs her ample, but firm and well proportioned, breasts into your face at your leisure.

That's a new one on me. Looks like a universal mains voltage type, judging by the different mains connectors. Looks nice :thumb2

Damn, seem to have missed her, :bounce1

For that kind of money I'd expect Vines to come round and install it in your garage and demonstrate its inner workings. £99 - ouch!

I'm exactly with GSMonkey here :beerjug:
