Went to get a replacement battery today from a certain dealer not too far from me, Was a bit taken aback by the price but was expecting it to be high for a OE part. As an interest, I asked how much it would be to fit as there were quite a few guys sitting about, - was told it was 1/2 hr work and it would be £55 +VAT !

I thought that was a bit steep, > £100 per hour labour! I know they have to cover costs etc but even I couldn't stomach that amount, (especially when it would have only been a 10 minute job in my garage!)

That's it - whinge over.

1/2 an hour if you take it really slowly and thats from a complete mechanical incompetant like me :augie

Dont forget the lump of wood to hold back end of the tank up :thumb

... half an hour to change a battery in a R1100S Boxercup with all it's tricky fairing panels!

10 minutes on the GS ... from another mechanical incompetent :augie

Just did mine this afternoon. Second attempt to get the right one mind. Stuck with a Varta. Took about 10 mins. One bolt on the rear right of the tank. Slide it back and up. Prop with a bit of wood and remove battery. Simples. The Varta had the correct blade terminals so didnt have to worry about terminal convertors. :-)
