Battery +ve lead corrosion

I have had my 1150GS for nearly 3 years now. After 10 days away, I tried to start it. It was completely dead, I thought the main fuse had gone. To my horror the positive lead had completely corroded through where it connects to the terminal lug.

Has anyone out there experienced similar problems? :p1zzed:
 
Easily preventable - should be checked at service time .
