my battery warning light came on yesterday during a spirited ride across parts of Hampshire.

Lights still work OK, bike still starts OK, everything electrical seems to function OK. Spyball alarm still works.

Bike is hooked up to an Optimate III when not in use.

Owners' handbook just says "Consult your local dealer".

Anyone got any ideas ?

Sorry - a more accurate diagnosis is needed.

It's shagged, take it to a dealer and give him lots of money and he will un-shag it for you.

:D

I'm feeling facetious this morning!

s'orright - it's still under warranty ! I just wondered if it might be something simple like a fuse (in which case I would do it) or whether it might be something much more serious like a shagged alternator (in which case it's "Hello Vines of Guildford")

did it come on briefly, stay on a while, is it still on , is it on permanantly with the engine running, have you checked the obvious( alternator belt broken), we need more detail------------ doesn't mean we're going to help, just like hearing of others problems.

Light is on permanently with engine running.

Didn't put it on charge last night, it won't start this morning.

10 minutes on the charger and I got it started.

Hurrah - lovely day - nice 50 mile jaunt over to Vines.

But it's got no petrol and I will need to stop at garage and bank and other things - it won't start at each of those locations so Mr. BMW mobile technician is going to come and have a look.

thank heavens warranty still in force for another 2 weeks

but it's a nice day and I wanted to go out and play and I can't. bollox bollox bollox

let us all know what the problem was, i think i didn't need to ask that question ? did i

:D

charge light

If the belts ok & i think it probably will be , it may be that the generator wire to the alternator (blue) may have chaffed against the abs carrier. there has been a recall out about this so it might be worth checking to see if yours has been done. It envolves fitting an edge protection strip along the edge of the carrier

So, belt is was then. 6X id get some braces to go with the new belt, you can never be to sure.

:D :D :beerjug: :D
