Hello there. I have a 2013 Gs lc and believe this still has the original battery fitted.
I don’t want to waste my money but don’t want to get caught out with it failing on me. I have had this before on another bike and was stranded.
Just a couple of questions please. What make is the stock battery? I fancy changing like for like when I do make the change.
How long would you expect one to last? Like I said mine is a 2013 bike so 5 yrs old. I consider that a good time to change. Thanks Dave

It depends how well you've looked after it.

A bike battery's life is somewhere between 10 weeks and 10 years.

That you are asking, I'd change it for peace of mind.
 
Push start lol. Yes tried the other day with my mates fireblade. No joy. We then jump started with a power pack but as soon as this was taken off the bike it stopped. The battery was fooked.
Smogbob is bang on. I did ring motoworks today and had a chat.
Bmw comes with an exide 14 amp as original. However exide will only supply 12 amps to other suppliers.
As motobatt has suggested in this thread is the one recommended by motorworks as this is 16 amp.
More juice for less money.
I am gonna run as I am for now but get this motobatt for the nw200 next year. Thanks again guys. Dave

Agree no use getting a new battery if bike is going to be in the garage over winter.
 
Too true. Will be all set for the spring. I am going to do the brake pads etc over the winter to ease on the horrendous labour rates of bmw when it goes for the annual service

If you take off the calipers get new bolts, as in the manual.
 
Yes i have seen or read that somewhere. I’m not sure about the front but with the rear it would seem you can change the pads without removing the caliper. I am hoping this is the case

You can change front and rear pads with the calipers in situ.
 
Thanks cpjs. It’s gonna be a winter job for the spring including the new battery April time for the new season.
