BB Chip...What will I get next?

Simon T,

Thanks. My bike was bought new. There is no provision on the header pipe for the lambda sensor connection - which I discovered when I removed the stock exhaust. I therefore assume that there is no cat in the box section of the exhaust. It never makes the 'rotten egg' smell you normally get from a cat. I have to say that it has always run quite well as standard, probably 'cos it doesn't have a cat.

Re the Motronic plug - performance doesn't seem to have suffered, though quite why it doesn't have one is a bit of a mystery. When I next go to the supplying dealer I'll ask about it.

I have another query for you. Apart from the first service I have always serviced the bike myself. I have read that occasionally it might be necessary to have the Motronic memory cleared - something that I assume can only be done with the relevant diagnostic kit. My question is this - if an aftermarket chip is fitted, as my bike has, does the Motronic memory ever need to be cleared and , if so, can this be done if a different chip is fitted?

Cheers

Bullcroft,

As far as I'm aware the error codes are only present when there is a fault, once the fault clears the error is no longer visable in the chips memory.

Dik came round to my house and we were playing with the error codes. If the bike is not run before reading the codes both hall effect sensors are identified as faults, however, if the bike is run before reading the codes there is no hall effect error codes displayed.

try this link if you want to see if there are any error codes present:
