I'm currently trying to download "Inspector George Gently" shown on BBC1 on May 17th. Niether of my PC's can achieve more than 128KB/s - is it my connection or just the availability of nodes?
The dearth of responses to your question is either due to it being in the "rant" section when you plainly are not "ranting" about anything or, more likely, people are wondering if it's worth providing technical help to someone who cannot figure out something as simple as the appropriate place for a post of this nature on an internet forum.
The most likely cause is that your ISP has throttled the available bandwidth for iplayer.
I use Virgin's ADSL service via a BT line and they certainly throttle my iplayer and torrent downloads at peak times. Come 0100 and the floodgates open and a 1 hour programme downloads in a matter or minutes.
