BBC1 Countryfile - Vehicular Access and the TRF

I thought the piece was not a well balanced piece of reporting. Most of it was spent sensationalising the irresponsible element of 4x4s and trail riders, working viewers up and continuing the vilification of trail riders with only a brief input from the TRF at the end. Though I did think he was a bit more logical in his argument than the anti.

If you can afford to join the TRF please do. It's one of the very few organisations trying to safeguard our rights. Without them there would/will be precious few lanes.

You could also write to the BBC pointing out how imbalanced the piece was.

It was always going to be an imbalanced report because the President of the Ramblers Association is Julia Bradbury!!

Go TRF

I might just join them now good piece of PR :thumb

I like the other guys reasoning for closing them,

Speeding, scared pedestrians, no tax or insurance

Sounds like most British roads too me should we close them

Do your research get out there enjoy byways and unsealed roads

slow or stop for walkers and horses and notice how unconcerned with your behavior they are.

good post :)
on the whole the riders we encounter while out on horsebackare very considerate...only a few have no idea how to treat the byways or how their actions are seen in the eyes of others or the effect of their actions to a spooked horse or even a dog/child that may be up ahead away from parents

it is those "few" that are hacking (pardon the pun) off people on horseback or walking. I see it from both sides and as such have always been VERY horse minded when laning...I was always happy to bimble along and take in the view

Yes, good post. But it's just too easy to make a film like the BBC did. The biker on the ridge and the posse of 4x4s all well off-piste. I've also little doubt that in a group of 20 bikes a few will not be road-legal.

These are the people who are putting our sport at risk - probably more than the anti-lobby.
