Be honest - could it be more than just a `concept`?

My first thoughts when I saw it and yes, an Armadillo range accessories for the style conscious tosser to bling up his WC.

Honestly I don't like how the Mad Max hugger MMugger ;). But I also believe it won't keep the bike clean.

To prove the concept, you could cut down a cheap fibreglass bobber mudguard (fender). Make up some brackets and run it from the shovel to swing arm. Now take bike down some muddy roads and note how dirty it gets. Fit another short version and do the same route. Odds are the bike will be covered in kak when there is gap between guard and shovel. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BIKE-REAR...rike_Parts_Accessories_SM&hash=item3a86e06659

Its a low cost way to prove the concept. If it really does work as Im suggesting some better quality moulds could be made or maybe have some rolled alloy guards made to suit.

These guys make rolled alloy and stainless mudguards http://www.auto-cycle.co.uk/#mud
Unfortunately, 6" is as wide as they go and a 150 tyre really needs at needs 7", but worth a call to discuss.

Have you actually tried it yet on the road.

Simple observation tells me that the plates are the wrong way round

i.e. the way they are located in the picture will result in the spray off the rear wheel being forced between the plates or are the plates welded along the front edges - but even so.

yes you are right mate however the slits are that thin that any moisture just seeps through rather than make it up the backs of your legs (which happens to me, dunno about other tossers????) and if the plates are done the other way round it simply doesn`t work - it tapers out towards the rear rather than flanging out if you see what I mean?

ride safe pal

Mark

It's a thing of beauty

Mad Max stylee

Pity the WC glitter boys are too prissy & vain to appreciate your efforts

ha - beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I`m thankful that there are as many appreciative fella`s of my stuff (and fekkin hard work) as there are of ones that find it not a thing of beauty.

ta geezer and ride safe

A valid explanation and reason for the design

All the best

I applaud your effort (and putting it out there for comment) - it's always good to try something new, but it doesn't do it for me, I'm afraid. It looks like it would be a pig to clean (ironically, bearing in mind its purpose) and just has a bit of a lashed together look.

That isn't a reflection of the amount of work you've put into it or your skill - I just think metal is the wrong medium to use for something like this - there's no requirement for the strength of the material and it would be far heavier (I'd think) than GRP or other composite alternatives, which do this job really well and can be so easily (and cheaply) manufactured. I just can't see the advantage of using metal.

As Fanum and JB have said - it's a bit Mad Max, which can be an interesting look - but I doubt you'll find a huge number of people wanting to make their new WC look like a futuristic rat-bike.

Mike

well said thank you and as a concept item I think I`ve certainly rung bells!

Sadly I can`t mould grp...........

take it easy geezer and thanks for your input

Good effort Mark. This part really needs to be functional and discreet. The carbon huggers look lovely but wrong on this bike as they stand out as being something that should not be there. If a source for simple hugger made of plastic could be found perhaps the bracket you have designed could then be put to good use, I would then be first on the list for one. At the moment the Ilmburger in plastic and the Puig in plastic does it for me on the Wasserboxer. Keep up the good work :clap

fella - do me a favour - if you see any `simple huggers` about give me a ring eh as it seems the lads think its also a good idea.

Hi Mark,

I have followed your thread, and to be honest I think you ought to be applauded for even starting this project!...and to get it looking as good as it does is actually very impressive (as always) bow

I'm not sure I'd buy it as a product (I don't really like huggers full stop) but I've got a feeling that this looks even better in the flesh than on photos...and I totally agree that if you made them in titanium they'd fly off the shelves :D

I can see that the look would appeal to some. Like you say it's very Mad Max, and some people love that.

Either way you go with this Mark you ought to be respected for your efforts, and proud of the achievement :thumb2

Thank you and as always kind words - it's the positive contributions which make me happy to at least attempt stuff. A fella with a Sertao has said that the TT stuff he's got is falling to bits and can I help him replace it with sturdier gear - this will be my next project to see if I can help him - he has the right 'biker' attitude so I will do my best and it should keep me busy.

Anyway mate - you can't be back from your travels so soon?

Spread your range to include more stuff for 1100/1150's & 800's plus the BMW singles range

That crud catcher reminds me if why I go to a dentist instead of a garage if I have toothache.
