Hi Guys,
Just a quick report from our last weekends trip up to Scotland, 10 of us went up to Aviemore on Friday 3rd August for a couple of nights, basically ride up Friday, do a loop on the Saturday consisting of Aviemore, Inverness, over to Applecross, Bealach Na Ba, onto Skye to Armadale for the ferry to Mallaig and then ride back around Fort William and back to Aviemore.
Sunday was the ride back home to Cleveland with some guys continuing to Burnley / Huddersfield area.
For once it seems like the weather Gods smiled upon us!
Brilliant sunshine and a warm 25C on our way up on the Saturday, so everyone enjoyed the 370-odd miles that we'd covered that day without a drop of rain.
Evening meal that night was at Papa Rock in Aviemore, quite a Motorcycle theme running through this place, a Honda CB750 four by the bar and a Triumph Bonneville further in the seating area, and loads of bike bits hanging on the walls, Hayabusa side fairings etc
Linky if you want to try it :-

Saturday dawned slightly misty, but you knew it was just gonna burn off when the old "currant bun" got out later and it did, just in time to light up Loch Luichart on the A832, absolutely stunning it was, we all rolled off the juice and just cruised past it taking in its beauty
, so gobsmacked I forgot to stop and take pics -
Doh!!
We were soon on the coastal road leading to Applecross and one of the guys took this cracking pic, just about summed up the whole weekend in one shot, great weather, fantastic scenery, and magic roads to ride.
A quick stop for a coffee at the pub at Applecross
Off again and up out of Applecross heading to the summit of the Bealach Na Ba, and at this stage we were above the clouds, and you could see the Cuillin hills of Skye in the distance - awesome!
How high!!
Then it was off the top to ride down the Bealach Na Ba, simply stunning view from the top when this opens out in front of you, so I stopped and took a few shots of the guys threading their way down it
Me and my trusty "short legged GS" I've owned this bike from new ( 2000 W reg
) and every ride on it has been a delight, its just a hoot to ride!!, especially when its gets me to places like this, I also run a 990 SMT but it was getting some rest before our French Alps trip in September
The view looking backward after descending the Bealach
Onto the ferry at Armadale for the short trip to Mallaig, no need to tie the BM down really as its that heavy it mnakes its own gravity!!
The only glitch to the weekend was when a coach driver smashed the back light to bits trying to squeeze past all the bikes, however he was a decent chap, collected all the bits for me and fessed up to his sins and said the coach company will buy a new one no probs, sellotape bodge did the trick no problem.
More cracking scenery and roads, but I forget exactly where
Sunday was a good ride down as far as Edinburgh, then we got a good hosing down for a couple of stretches of the journey, just tested out my new Dainese Tundra Gore-Tex jacket and pants and I'm pleased to say they passed with flying colours.
If you've not done this Applecross route its a stunner! and I hope you get weather as good as we did to add to the enjoyment.
Cheers,
Poucher
