Beamish Trophy Trial

I was looking for something to do tomorrow.

Are you participating or spectating?

Any tips for good places to view?

Dave H is taking part on his R75. Riders get to know route at start, there is a lunch stop at Allenheads so would imagine they will do the off road bit from Rookhope to Crawleyside.. if they do that will be best viewing point.

just watched pathe news from 1922 (its just reached here) haggs bank just past nenthead seems to be apopular choise for p*ss taking of old farts on older bikes

Leaving pre-1200s and their riders out of this, that seems like a good spot..

Nice pics, the Velvet path and Hags mine are both good off road routes, although they spoilt the twisty base of Hags mine when they resurfaced it.

As an aside: I have to add, this was a very special day for me:

It's the first time I overtook Panzer Patrol when we were both going for it..

:P

I followed the Beamish today and what a cracking day gentle run out a couple of little trails and a dam good laugh.

Hi Chris, I was going for it...... in the opposite direction, There must be another short fat sackless GSer on a blue un. I did see you wiz past at the junction just outside of Stanhope. I was looking for a garage. MM said it was an age thing...I forgot to fill up when I left. You can count the number of filling stations in the Dales on the fingers of a badly damaged hand. What a pain trying to get some juice, ended up in Alston at the finish. Anyhoo our intrepid hero Steady Away completed the course on his old R75, he sailed up Haggs Bank on his Tutonic pogo-stick. A grand day out was had by all.

Best bit of the day was seeing the new 1200 GS burn the clutch out on a gentle lane Oh how we laughed.
the 75 did well also the BM engined outfit was doing really well.

My clutch was a bit whiffy.. but I remembered the teachings: "Lean back and gas it...."
