Just started doing the swap from a Rockstar front wishbone back to a normal GS one but have run into some trouble. Basically the bearings & washer's seem to be different on the rockstar one & there are none in the GS one. So are the bearings/washers/end caps different on a GS?

Yes, they're different arrangements in the two different wishbones.

I think you'd be best checking out the parts catalogue for each model to make sure you get the right set-up.

I picked up my Rockster wishbone from eBay & it was brand new, so had no bearings at all. I got another set of GS bearings/spacers & set up the new one the same as the old'un. You could probably do the same thing in reverse.

HTH,

I figured it out eventually using the downloaded GS manual & the RealOEM site. Seems like the previous numpty owner made a mongrel setup using a few parts from both bikes. All up & running now, just need a few of the plastic end caps & one spring clip thing to complete. Once I found out from realOEM that the bearing's were the same size in both I didnt worry about pressing them into the GS wishbone.

Just need to adjust the alignment a few mm as it's slightly off at the moment. But now have a GSA that doesnt bang over bumps (The rockstar wishbone caught on the GSA's crashbar top mounts) & also changed out the fork brace & balljoint as the old one was fubar. Looking at the rockstar wishbone I'm not surprised as it looks as if the balljoint should have a cone type washer on top as the rockstar wishbone is tapered underneath where as the GS one is flat, looks to have been applying lots of extra force to the balljoint.

Anyway done & dusted now, onto the next job. :thumb2
