right hand side of my engine casing has gone from a lovely silver colour to a rather dubious coffee colour...whats the story? bikes just on 2 yrs old and add that to the corroding wheels, corroding fork brace, leaking engne gasket, leaking shaft drive, im starting to wonder is it worth the extra cash you pay for the name??? answers on a postcard

Check the fuel lines (behind the black plastic cover under the right side of the tank). This is a classic symptom of a fuel leak from that area. They won't leak all the time, but you should replace the 'crimp' clamps with jubilee clips. Approach your dealer about getting it rectified as a 'goodwill' (I'm guessing you're out of warranty).
Oh, and get used to the colour of your engine case, it's going to stay like that unless you get it repainted......

crimps

yes had that happen on my R1150R, after reading various posts about fuel leaks one day got off a hot bike to smell and see petrol trickling down right leg side of bike and evaporating on cat!

Phoned dealer who said he would order some crimps in as he has never heard of that happening before!! but I 'temporarily' tightened them with a pair of nail pincers and it is still fuel tight.

Thought better to keep tried and tested fix than a replacement that would go again at some point.

guys.

cheers for your advice. leaking fuel lines sounds interesting....had wondered what that smell was and now i know.......def not the smell of victory tho!!!!!

best to all:D

happened to me to

don't bother going to the dealer - just put decent jubilee clips on it, saves time, bother and expense
