Beeping noise

As of yesterday my 08 F650GS started making a beep when I turn the ignition on & I can hear the beeeeeep going continuously when the engine is running.
I have no alarm fitted & it has never done it before, my local dealers don't know why either!!
Has anyone else had this occur and have they solved the mystery?

Took it in so a BMW engineer could listen to it today....it's either the electronics which control the fuel pump (cheapish fix) or the fuel pump that needs replacing (not so cheap fix)....either way he said it should not be making this noise.
All will be sorted on Tuesday, will update then.

Been on ADV site & someone's GS has done this since it's fuel sensor recall was done.....my recall was done 2 weeks ago!

Mine issues a single beep every time I turn the ignition on along with various whirrs and electronic clicks while running through the pre flight checks.Thought they all did that?

Ow yeah all that but I get a high pitch whine. Doesn't happen all the time.

Ah,yes mine does that too,usually when I tell her its just a lads night out!

I get a high pitch whine just before i start the bike but i know it is the high beam ballast for the HID (when i have left it on from the previous ride). Once started, bike is louder that the ballast unit.

Just wondering if you ever got to the bottom of this? Mine has just started to do the same thing. Seems to run fine,but Im sure this is not a good thing! Sounds like something spinning at very high speed.

Do you have ABS by any chance, I dont know how the new ones work but my old R1150R used to make an awful noise when you applied the brakes.


My wifes F650 makes a servo type noise from within the instrument area when first switched on. My 18 month older F800 makes no noise at all.

Ta for the suggestion Sooty,but I got mine without ABS or OBC. Wanted to have as few gizmos as possible.Figured less to go wrong!
Think I`ll take it to Ocean this week,thats what the warranty is for after all
