Before I go too mad cleaning......

After getting the bike back from Bilco's Alaska trip this year, this is the first weekend I'll have had a chance to give it a good clean.

When it went in the container, it was just dirty (despite a good wash half way thru after the Dalton), but when we pulled it out there was obviously some oil seepage or leakage around the joint at the back (see crap piccy below).

Before I have it back to showroom condition (okay, cleaner than it is now ) and get it booked in with Steptoe for a service & good going over, anything to take note of? Or do I leave that bit dirty, so Neil can have an idea what's up?

60C hot water at Liard River would have cleaned it off good style ...

mind you I suppose the Ranger might have had something to say

If it was my bike I'd clean off the oil, ignore it, and see if it came back (I did, it didn't). Sometimes a little bit of oil gets past the (final drive input?) seal and into the shaft, thence out past the gaiter, without it being an ongoing thing.

Looks like the usual residue after a long hard ride. Usually nothing to worry about.
But check the oil levels in the final drive and gearbox to be on the safe side.
