Behind the Front engine cover

Clean the joint and stick some masking tape around - all the way around if possible. Any leak should show on the tape. If it wont stay stuck, use some dabs of gaffa tape to hold it.

Silly question but, whats behind the front engine cover on a 1200GS engine? I have oil in my bash plate, not a huge amount but it doesn't appear to be coming from Sump plug or oil filter so could it come from anywhere else?:D

THE ENGINE !. Its not that difficult to work out is it.:blast

oil

The only oil I've found in my bash plate was from the front shock...........pile of shite GSA ESA thing.

I think its the gasket at the bottom on the brake lever side.

Did you try CAREFULLY just cinching the cover bolts ??

If you did it's a cover off clean up and get some decent RTV I use the Loctite Grey stuff when i am doing one

Not that others won;t do just a personal preference that seems to work well

Not yet as still under 2 year old so should be still under warranty! Just a nagging thought, where on the twin cam uses a plate bolted to the bottom of engine cases, the plate appears to have been put in by a gorilla as the nut n bolt are so tight that the alli casing has been distorted. :blast This is proving to have pretty poor build quality compared to my earlier 1200's:barf
