Came across Bell Helmets this weekend, certainly like the look and feel of them.

Has anyone any experience of ownership - build quality, noise levels etc?

Back in the '60's Bell was one of the top manufacturers.
I remember always wanting a Bell Star helmet but could never afford one.

They seem to have dropped out of sight for many years but have recently reappeared with the new Bell Star.

Didnt all the bad guys in Mad Max I wear Bell?

The 60`s helmet weighted a ton.

Probably someone bought the Bell Star name for an all so often happening relauch of a popular brand.

Got a Bell carbon MX-5, has a 3mm think visor. With (it really works) anti-fog/anti-mist/anti-rain coating.

Only issue I've had is the aluminium screw holding visor on fits into a brass threaded screw. Aluminium & brass love to corrode when joined... anyhow might get a visor when mine returns from Italy. Ow & in really heavy rain you have to sip the incoming water, refreshing top tip!

Unbelievably comfy & quite.

No they weren't - the Griffin Clubman HP with leather lining and 2.5mm vented visor was a better lid.

Now boys, I had both in their day, however, its that long ago I can't remember :rob

Does it really matter now, it must be in the region of 30 years ago :nenau

And then its down to personal preferance :augie

Anyhow, best regards Stretch :)

PS thought leather was fer saving yer ass not yer cranium :D:D

Had a black and gold daytona for a couple of years, top quality visor, especially with a smear of fogtech. Only criticism is that its a bit draughty under the chin, in colder times a good windstopper is required.

I've had ...

... a Bell M4R Carbon (forerunner of the above) for about 18 months now; the reviews are right when they say the vent controls are hard to find with gloves on, apart from that I think it's the mutts-nutz :D The visor is the best I've ever had on a crash helmet, 3.3mm injection moulded that has no distortion at all :augie My neck appreciates that it weighs next to nothing too :thumb2

This is a sign of the times.
