I was in my local Polo shop which for the uninitiated is a chain store in Germany for bike clothing and other bits. I noted that this year they will be stocking Belstaff stuff and thought I'd take a look with the view of buying a new waxproof. Over here one would cost around 500 euros and a "long way down" 999 euros. Is it only me that thinks this is pure lunacy? OK so they were never cheap but even a top of the range Gore-Tex jacket would be 500 and would not turn all your clothes black in six months. A leather jacket is also around 999 euros!!!!!WTF!!!

Hi Syl, I bought a Belstaff waxed tourist trophy jacket about 8 months ago and Ive not had it off my back. I wear it on and off the bike.

I must have had 30 people comment on it ( mostly blokes:ymca).

It cost me £350, if your after one let me know and I`ll post it out. Sounds like it would still be cheaper doing that based on the strength of the Euro.

I've just bought one too - really very pleased with with. Have worn it in -12 temps and was fine with just a knitted jumper and shirt. Like the man said - works just as great of the bike too :thumb2 Only thing it's missing is a back protector, but that's pretty easy to fix and not having fixed to the jacket is a good thing.

I think it's because I'm tight, but my last two jackets were 100 euros. Both are Alpinestars, both Goretex, both been good. My previous experiences with wax were not good. Fine when there are broken in but they soon pick up all the sh$t on the road and leave it on anything you touch. By the way the belstaff t-shirt is listed at 89euros, are they mad!!!!!

You should keep an eye on ebay. You'd be shocked to see how much old manky well used Trail master jackets go for. Pretty good money when they do appear.
I had one in the mid to late 70's and some toe rag nicked it :tears

I still have my waxed Belstaff - bought it in 1980. It is a Trialmaster Professional:) and the blue check lining is still intact inside too - it was worn daily for years. i still use it on nice days in the summer, in the rain it doesn't work as well as modern stuff - and NO, it isn't as warm as my quilted coat with gortex etc. But I would never part with it. It is an old friend and we share many happy memories :thumb2
