Benefits of twin shock over monoshock

I am playing with the idea of converting my R100GS to a twin shock :blast

Is there any benefit? Is this conversion possible with a GS or is it mutually exclusive to G/S monolevers? Has anyone tried this?

Would guess Rob F may have done :D

And an off the cuff question ......................... can you replace a paralever with a monlever drive setup [ie swing arm, drive shaft etc etc]? or is it going to be an offset issue?

Why on earth would you consider going through what could quite possible be a costly and painful conversion when you yourself can think of no clear, positive advantage? :blast

And why not? Life is full of challenges and this is one I quite like, and that of converting bikes into something different :D

You assume I have no prior knowledge regarding the benefits, and you maybe right however you maybe wrong. I ask because I find that there is lots to learn and digest from the :rob on here; Also someone may come up with something I hadn't even considered. :thumb
 
Now I am one of the:rob:rob but I can offer no useful advice but if you are looking to do something different, why not try a rigid frame....... Well you asked and it is different:D
 
I tried to put a later MONO drive with the 4 stud hub the brake drum fits OK but the rear wheel off the 100Gs is 17" and fouls on the drive shaft/swinging arm assembly you can offset the wheel either on the spokes or by fitting a spacer.
In my dark and distant past I put K1 wheels in a 100GS and the offset didn't bother the handling too much as long as long the front and back wheels are parallel it just turns in quicker on left handers.
