My RT had a service at 3000 miles which included the brake fluid change. The bike then stood over the winter. A few eeks ago it then became apparent that the "jam-jar" brake fluid reservoir had been overfilled and not correctly cleaned up, which over the winter caused the paint on the reservoir cover to melt and fall off. Luckily it had not affected the fairing paintwork. After removing some fluid and cleaning up the area, I rang Benhams to discuss the matter suggesting they provide a new cover. Well, I was shocked to be dismissed out of hand. Even the MD didn't want to know. Moral of the story: check your bike over thoroughly after a service, better still do it correctly yourself once out of warranty. Out of interest, Rainbow were sorry to hear this tale and would have sorted it out immediately.

If that is Benhams in Wolverhampton they left the bolts holding the bash plate all loose on my GS, complained and got £100.00 credit note not that I used it as bought a Triumph.

Trouble with Benhams is you are talking to bloke in a suit at the service desk who doesn't know one end of a bike from another, the gearbox seal failed on the GS got a quote from Pidcocks to repair it as I was over that way at the time, called in at Benhams for a price as they were closer and wouldn't even give me a price without booking it in to look at it, I said I knew what the problem was and it was confirmed by Pidcocks, still didn't want to know without me paying them to look at it to tell me the seal had gone.

Needless to say they never got the job, wouldn't let them blow tyres up.

Benhams are my local dealer. Had my bike a year and never had any problems with them. The service guys (the ones that book you in) are all car based so are clueless about bikes, that much I worked out quite quickly.

I've just had my first service with no problems or follow up required.

That said I know the guys in the bike bit and they always see me right.

But I'll keep this in mind for future reference.

i was quoted 46% more from benhams for servicing work compared to other main dealers. I've not heard too many good reports either, i would'nt touch them. stuart:blast
