I had been considering buying the Gerbing T12 Heated gloves and tried some one at last weeks NEC show, & was impressed with them, they was being sold by the distributer at full retail price, I did some research on the net and found a supplier & ordered them. Then today I had a call from the supplier who informed me that he was no longer supplying this kit as he said he was having too many issues with them i.e. heat controllers failing & failing batteries on the cordless ones. He offered to sell me a pair of Warm and Safe touring gloves at the same price, a brand I am unfamiliar with and without trying them on for size i am reluctant to buy them he tells me he is the only UK supplier anyone had experience of either brand please ?

I bought some off a fellow Tosser, its not been cold enough yet so not worn them.....thats not much help really is it :blast

not really mate, thanks, I am really reluctant to go with the Warm & Safe brand without trying them on, sizes fluctuate so much with manufacturers, + Gerbing give a life time warranty on the heating mesh in their gloves.

Riderz of Swansea were who I ordered from, he is still advertising these items, yet has no stock and tells me that he will not be restocking due to their unreliability, i think I have a right to be suspect of his motives. Yep the supplier you suggest are the main distributor who had the stand at the bike show but would not consider discounts.

Hmm. Dealt with him once and seemed a top bloke. Then when the gloves packed in ( substandard heating element I was later informed) I was told to take it up with Gerbing as nowt to do with him. Since then have dealt with Gerbing that at one time were at Radigund Farm, Dover way I think, and their service was second to none. I think they have now moved to the address I posted ( but don't quote me on that !), but they are "Gerbing UK"
For reasons that someone has explained but I still don't understand, "your" guy still comes out first on a "Gerbing" google for UK. :nenau

Gerbing stuff I think is bloody excellent. :thumb2

( Please note, although he's in Ystrad he is English. :augie )

:D

Yep. my first pair of Gerbing gloves were faulty, in fact as I slowed down for villages, they got so hot they almost burned my hands. Took them back to Radigund Farm, Dover, and they were exchanged, no problems. The new ones even had elasticated tops which the original ones didn't. Dead comfy whether plugged or not.

I've had nothing but praise for my Gerbing gloves and liner too. So much so that I bought the wife some gloves and a liner from the NEC from Gerbing UK and got £60 discount

Love my gerbing jacket and gloves, they do get a bit hot though so I do have to turn them down after 20 or so miles.

Thanks chaps for your responses, it would appear that these gloves do come with some issues, but it is comforting that matters have been rectified by Gerbings, I have spoken to Terry at Riderz of Swansea, who says that the majority of problems he experienced were with the temp controllers being faulty, i have declined his offer of supplying Warm & Safe brand at the same price, as previously stated I have tried on the Gerbings and know they are a good fit, I don't care for the hassle of buying an untried brand and having to return them if they are unsuitable so i am still looking at who can supply at the right price. Terry at Riderz was very understanding and gave me an immediate refund.

The warm and safe clothing has been around about the same time as Gerbing only in the USA , Gerbing have copied many of their ideas. Warm and safe also make the Powerlet clothing that so many people have gone too instead of Gerbing.

Riderz were the largest retailer of Gerbing (fact).

Riderz ARE the only UK stockist of Warm and safe.

One of the reasons Riderz are stopping dealing with Gerbing is down to the warranty issues and the way Gerbing are dealing with them. Where you could send your faulty items back for a replacement,The seller would replace them, they now have to be sent back to the distributor to be fixed before returning them back to you, this could be around 3 months.

The main issues with the items were the external wires breaking, the coating IS very brittle and will break especially with the gloves. "External cables are not covered under the warranty, please make sure not to have any tight bends in the cables as the exit the glove/garment"

Terry also rides and tests the kit thoroughly.

Would you sell kit that you had to keep replacing at your own cost ? Would you like to explain to customers why they are without theyre expensive garments for 3 months while they were getting reapired in the middle of winter?

I have just sold my Biketek jacket to buy a Warm and safe as i was so impressed with the heat difference (had a Gerbing before that and thought the Biketek was a better jacket)

It would appear that none of them are without faults, I have heard similar complaints of Keis gloves, cable problems, maybe I should rely on good quality winter glove & my heated grips.

No problems with Gerbing. However before that I went through three pairs of Exo2 gloves in one season as they'd just stop heating up, usually on the coldest day.
The wife also went through 2 Oxford heated grip controllers in twelve months. The new style ones seem a lot better though.

I love my Gerbing gloves, I wear them almost all year round, just powering them up in winter natch. Very comfortable gloves.:thumb2
