I stayed for two nights, as a part of my Marathon Avoidance jaunt.

I picked the hotel at random, based as much on its location and the routes I wanted to ride over the Saturday and Sunday. I wasn’t disappointed.

The place is run by nice people, has a decent enough bar and the food’s reasonably priced.

I parked my motorcycle outside, with a simple lock around the front wheel. It was still there each morning.

The town (the hotel is in the old part of town, two minutes walk from the large main square, which has all the things a red blooded bikermate might need) is OK, too.

how on earth did you manage to ride such a huge distance on so small a capacity moto ??? !!!
surely in 2025 you are almost a 1000cc short changed here for such an adventure !

should I alert the motorcycle press of such a feat ?
😜

Have stayed at Bergues several times but used the motorhome aire, just outside the old wall, its a convenient last stop before the tunnel/ ferry

It’s quite a nice town and typically ‘Flanders’s French, with its large market square and former abbey, which was destroyed in the French Revolution.

The war memorial, which carries a mass of names from WW1, explains that the town was bombarded by long range artillery attacked from the air. It was rebuilt but suffered again in 1940 when, I assume, it was important strategically in the retreat up to Dunkirk.

As a base for say, two days, it would be good, with enough choice of eateries, bars, cafes and the like to suit most people.
