In 2024 I sold my Rukka Nivala jacket and pants as wasn’t using it much , preferring my Klim kit in warmer weather .
Also, I had to get a zip replaced on the Nivala jacket and found it a bit short.
I also always got a slightly damp crotch, however much I did up the zips.
So I sold it .
A few months later, Motolegends had a Sunday sale offering their Bering Hurricane Goretex Laminate jacket for half price , down from £599 to £299.
So I took a punt as ideally wanted a Goretex jacket in the cupboard for colder and wetter trips .
The jacket arrived and I was delighted at the fit and comfort. A month later Motolegends emailed me offering the Hurricane pants on the same deal, down from £499 to £249.

So the entire suit cost £550 compared to just the Nivala jacket at £1499 !

I’ve now used the suit on two trips to Spain and France and I can honestly say it’s the most comfortable and best fitting suit I’ve ever had . It’s also very warm and 100% waterproof unlike the Nivala !

The reason for this waffling bollox is I’ve just noticed that Motolegends now have the remaining Hurricane jacket and pants on sale at the same half price .

Not many sizes left in the jacket but they have a few including 2XL which happens to be what I bought ,being about a 46” chest .

So if you’re looking for a very good Goretex laminate jacket and/or pants at a bargain price, look no further .

Or you could spend FIVE times that for the latest and not greatest Rukka Nivala 3 at £2600 for the suit, where Rukka have kindly put the price up yet taken away the quality Armacor shoulder protection and replaced it with a cheaper version, removed the large map pocket and made the whole thing out of a newer Goretex laminate which has had the Teflon removed due to new regs meaning that the DWR is lower so the jacket will wet out more , as it was the Teflon that helped the rain to run off with the previous Gore membrane .
At least the storm collar is removable again unlike the disastrous Nivala 2 .😜

I’m almost tempted to get a spare suit , knowing how good the Bering is and knowing that the Gore membranes are not as effective as of old due to tightening regs .

Admittedly the Hurricane doesn’t come with a chest protector like the Nivala, or even a back protector BUT you could buy this suit AND the latest Alpinestars Tech Air 5 Plasma airbag vest for £ 250 less than just the Rukka jacket !

Thats what I’ve got and you don’t even know you’ve got the airbag vest on , it’s that comfortable.Plus it will offer far more protection in an off compared to basic chest and back protectors .
