Coming back from France this morning, the clutch cable on my r1100gs broke at the toll booths on the Dartford crossing. After the bridge recovery team got me safely back to their compound, it only took me 10 mins with a universal cable repair kit, to get the bike working again. It's been in the tool kit for about two years and today I was glad I had it.

Have it for ages, never used it.

I have spare clutch cable routed parallel with the current one (just connect the two ends of the new one when the old one snaps) + I keep all the cables well lubricated.

The clutch cable is the only one that gets a lot of stress and can snap even if it's well maintained.

I still just in case carry the repair set for a possible throttle cable failure but never needed it so far. Am I being too paranoid? :augie

Don't tell Mrs Miff that. I have 3 bikes already.... :blast

And no cable repair kit..... get a grip.:D

I had a kit in my tool roll for approx 10 years, and I used it this month to help a stricken airhead in Croatia, the rider was made up.:thumb2

The 250cc scooter needs no clutch :blast
The ZZR is Japanese so can be ridden without using the clutch :D
