Still hopping around on crutches after 12 weeks of this bloody talus fracture... but planning ahead... hope to be partial weight bearing in the next few weeks

Have used altberg aw hoggs for years now ... but as my ankle is going to be a lot more vulnerable, I want to give it the best possible protection. Will probally use some form of ankle brace day to day

What do you lot recommend? Want waterproof boots too!

Depends what you're doing. For off-road I recommend Alpinestars Tech 10 boots. For fell-running you may want something else. ;)

Sidi Gortex efforts have been a revelation for me. Proper w/proof, but with all the race-level protection and support you'd want.
Not boots for walking in though....

Boots

I had a serious ankle injury last year. Like you needed some proper ankle support. Found some BMW boots with what I would describe as a plastic heel and ankle support with hinged supports from the ankle to the top of the boot. This system is called 'Biomex Protection'. They saved my trip to Austria, a trip I would not have done without the support offered by the boots.

I rarely use mine now but I would recommend them.
Good Luck.
