Many moons ago (pre CBT ) a friend bought two old mopeds (Raleigh Runabouts or similar ) , when his two kids subsequently reached 16 he made them get their provisional licences ,registered a bike to each of them and insured it .
Neither had any intention of riding the bikes although at 17 they passed their car tests and drove the parents car on their insurance , they went into further education and once they finished Uni at 21 and wanted to start earning and get a car they had accrued 5 years worth of no claims and a blameless driving records (on paper) .
Sneaky but no doubt saved them an absolute fortune in the log run
