Ok so the M74 and the A1 are sh*te but what's your favourite?

I like the wee roads and one of my favourites is the Chain Bridge over the River Tweed near Berwick or for a main road the A68 at Carter Bar isn't too bad if you take away the tour coaches, piper and the burger vans.

The Bridges at Norham or Coldstrean aren't bad either!:thumb

FP.

If wee Eck gets his way the border crossing at Gib will seem a doddle compared to crossing England and Scotland :D
You'll have to go at it like Steve McQueen in the Great escape.

best route

A68 over border then turn 1st left to Hawick

That the one over an old drove road ford? Light controlled bridge crossing to restrict the weight on the brig?

Funny how we change as we get older dad came from Edinburgh but we had aunties in both Edinburgh and Newcastle, I liked all my aunties and cousins in Edinburgh and Fisherrow ps they wouldn't have liked wee smiley eckie . But the toon was where bro and I liked to go especially the Dene motorbike shop in the haymarket saw my first love a velocette thruxton in green with racing seat. Loved bikes even at thirteen. Sorry back to the roads into the old homeland the A 69 has it's good points but the A1 has some great side tracks like Eyemouth Coastal road, North Berwick and along the side of the Forth. It's all good.

I'd go with Deadwater Chris unless you're offering something through the farm:flag:flag

I have used the A68 and that was fine enough, but more often than not i go to the Weymess (?) Ferry, two quick ferry crossings then i'm out in the sticks, saves all the boring bollocks if you're going west coast.

+1 for the a7.one of the nicest roads around.couple of nice caffs, and they relaid the surface a year or two back.
