+1 for the a7.one of the nicest roads around.couple of nice caffs,and they relaid the surface a year or two back.

But the road is plastered with mud as you approach Edinburgh due to the railway construction traffic

I'm not a great fan of the A1, but I had to ride up the A1 on Friday evening as I couldn't face the more scenic - slower - routes on a cold, dark, wet night on my first ride on my "new" bike. So the A1 it was with cold fingers.

I've never been up that road in the dark before, so I was very impressed by the large illuminated sign at the border crossing into the homeland and hope I can return one night for a photo shoot.
