So, what are the best engine/crash bars for the 1150GS, and where can I acquire them:confused:

Can anyone recommend a set:confused:

Cheers

:D

Here's a picture of the H&B bars.. generally seen as giving the best protection.

Thanks for the info and recommendations fellers.

I’m gonna go for the H&B bars then (as soon as Motorworks web site is back on line)

One more question for MasterDabber though – are the bars available in that lovely silver/alloy coating?

cheers

Hi Yonkyo.
I bought my bars from Motorworks earlier this year and they were available from them in black or the silver. So, I presume they still do them in silver.
It is only a silver paint and will scratch...

I really have to recommend them... earlier this week I was on a narrow unclassified lane near Odiham, came down into a dip that was completely covered in wet deepish mud.
I had slowed down to about 10/15 mph but as soon as I hit it the bike slid away and I went down:(
The only damage was that I ripped off the offside pannier... I broke the pannier rail and footrest bracket the system cases attach to.
Nothing else was damed, not the cylinder heads, bar ends... nothing.
The H&B bars got scraped up a bit but never bent.
So, they are not so pristine as my earlier photo... but now I've done a quick repray of the damaged area... I used Halfords Ford Stardust Silver. Which seems to be a pretty good match for the paint H&B have used. I also the put some Halfords clear lacquer on them.

Sorry to hear that you dropped your GS....but that littel tumble proved the effectiveness of the H&B's.

its gotta be money well spent i'm sure.
