Best phone SatNav app

Hi all,

Any views on the best phone app based Sat Nav for motorbikes.

I am aware of the pitfalls re vibration, security etc.

I am planning on using my ageing iphone 7 in a Quadlock handle bar mount. It currently has the TomTomGO app on it.

I am after any views on this setup and/or if a better phone based system exists.

Everybody has their own opinion . Who would have thought it !
I’ve tried most and MyRoute app is by far the best in my opinion .
I’d ditch that 80s Quadlock shite and upgrade to Peak Design whilst you’re at it

I have MyRoute and also like TomTom Go.

Thanks for the tip about Peakdesign, will keep it in mind when I go a bit more modern with my iPhone as they don't seem to still make a case for the 7

Many of the apps have a trial period. Take advantage of those and see what you like.

The stick on Peak Design adaptors are perfectly good. I have one on my Samsung phone, for which no Peak Design case was available.

Any views on the best phone app based Sat Nav for motorbikes.

Question one: Do you just want A to B routing, where the phone’s app chooses the route? If so Google / Waze are perfectly adequate.

Question two: Do you want the app to create twisty roads, mate? If so, Kurviger’s phone based app is not too bad.

Question three: Do you want to create bespoke, maybe quite complicated routes and then navigate them? Forr example for a two week holiday in Europe. If so, a combination of MyRoute’s two separate app’s would be good.

Question four: Do you intend to ride significant distances, properly off-road?

Question five? What’s wrong with TomTom Go?

SatNav to be used to keep us on track and together with the option of using some POIs to make the trip more interesting if we choose.

Waze is very good..

Only for point to point. No good at all if you want to ride custom routes

If you are looking at MyRoute, there is a minimum requirement of the phone running IOS 12.4. Depending on the RAM size of of your iPhone 7, it might work.

Me? I’d never rely on a single phone for navigation but you’ll have GPS devices, so why bother with a navigation app running phone at all?

Ah! basic plan will be in our heads and/or hand written, the satNav is basically to stop me getting lost as my riding partner will be leading the way. It seems TomTom will work for us 2 old blokes on 2 old GS going for a 7 day extended bimble from Wales to Scotland and back.

For planning intricate week long Jaunt to Euroland (doubt it) of for a commuting dash from A to B (questionable) via the rat runs along with every uber driver in tow?

It has been at least 3 years since I've ditched it personally. Never been a great fan. Apple maps for A-B mundane trips and MyRoute App for Euro Jaunts or chosen by me roads over here.

Waze comes into its own when there’s a traffic snarl up ahead and it reroutes, or when it alerts you to things like stranded vehicles or speed camera vans because it has a collaborative real-time community.

Good for car point to point navigation.

So great for the infested uk but not relevant as soon as you cross the channel .
