As it says, I'm looking for someone in the Glasgow area to get my R60 MOT'd. Somewhere familiar with older bikes would be good.

Suggestions please?

If you are really stuck Davey Buick at Central Garage, Alyth is great and I know has looked after 'old' bikes.

Only a couple of hours from you!!!

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Busby gets the first try, I didn't know they were an MOT centre. About a mile from where I work:blast:D

In the late 70s we Mot'd my Yam RD350B at Busbys....a week later it went in with a different number plate dressed as a YDS7 and came out with another;) Old man Busby was a miserable sod, anyone know if his sons are still in the business?
Howies garage in Kilwinning do honest appropriate bike mots:thumb2

Yep, Busby's is still in business. Like son like father I think you'd say. Heard from a friend he failed his mates bike on headlight incorrectly adjusted and he could've just turned the adjuster to sort it
I'd be interested to see how you get on, perhaps because it's a classic he might actually crack a smile.....and also be helpful.
Barry at Angus Motors, Barrhead, gets my vote......open late on a Thursday and does a Saturday morning. Always best to book.
Robertson's take their bikes to Barry for MOTs if that says anything to you.

I don't think I ever bought anything out of Busby's. The old boy always seemed to put you off. Remember the genuine tiny Honda Monkey Bike in the window of the Glasgow Rd shop?
I was usually at MCS in RD200/Elsie days or Charlie Holding's.

Booked in for today at Busby. I spoke to a guy named Billy but don't have a surname yet. The workshop looked clean, tidy and organised so happy to give him a try. I haven't seen a smile yet though. Are ANgus in Barrhead just a MOT station or do they have a full bike workshop and engineers as well?

I don't really know any of the local bike shops. I used to use Motorad Central at Kirkintilloch Road for the 1150 and since they've gone I've just bought the bits on line and done the work myself but that doesn't work with MOT's.:)

I remember the original MCS when he worked out of a lock-up but had no space and the scrappy in Renfrew melted down 6 250/305 Hondas. He then took over the old bakers shop. (I used to buy penny cases from there when I passed on the way home from primary in the late 60s) It was the centre of RD madness for a while. Who remembers Kenny Gregg the mental mechanic/racer? Had a bad smash and gained a huge scar..met him at college years later doing computing.

We have an MOT. Had quite a chat with Billy, seems a good guy, but he was certainly thorough!

He had three Bantam engines that he'd put together from parts sitting in the corner of the workshop, kept him occupied when it was quiet in the winter.

Been goin to busbys for all my bike mot's now for last fifteen years. He is really thorough but he is fair. After youve been goin to him a couple of years you can get a smile and a bit of banter with him.My 2002 1150gs passed again yesterday.
