Hi all

Been thinking about contingencies when out and about (particularly on tour) and I've heard all sorts from some of the peeps I've talked to on their loves and hates of puncture repairs. :eek

What are your thoughts on what works, what's crap and whether you carry one or not?:rolleyes:

Getting mine out of the garage tomorrow!!! :aidan

I like Stop-n-go.

A compressor (or small good quality bicycle pump) is worth its weight in sweat.

Whatever you do, find out how any sort of repair kit works before you are on a roadside in 35c sun or over your ankles in water. Get an old tyre from a garage and have a practice. It takes say 20 minutes and - as you are using a loose tyre - you can see what is happening (and what doesn't) inside the carcass.

It is time very well spent.

My Mrs got me this last chrimbo:

Its awsome!

Large nail punctured tyre which, from start to finish took under 5 mins to get back riding again,

The 'temp' is still going strong after a couple of thousand miles

The inflator was good enough to pump up the tyres on a merc sprinter too - it did take a while but it did it

The little mushrooms are pre greased so you don't even need a lubricant to get them into the tyre

The delivery from the states was good, under 3 weeks and at chrimbo time too.

Places in the UK are doing the plugger kits too. Great bit of kit, I keep the plugger stashed under the tank / front of seat so I've always got it

top marks from me!!:beer::beer:

If all else fails.

Keep a variety of stubby self-tapping screws in a small bag. Providing the puncture is not huge or a gash, one will work screwed into the hole. A thousand couriers cannot be wrong.... you will need a pump though.
