Best quality external hard drive?

Is there a make of external hard drive that stands out as being more reliable/built to a higher standard than others? Or are they all pretty much the same? I'm thinking along the lines of around 120GB, USB2 and portable. Any recommendations?

Just bought a LaCie 120GB. OK so far. I suspect that they're all much of a muchness.
Important of course to get one which is USB powered rather than having a power lead.
I think some of them will come with bundled backup software. I've also got a Maxtor Onetouch which I bought for this reason, but I don't use the software any more cos it was too complicated and clunky.

You dont really need physically large HDD anymore with notebook USB drives offering large capacities. How much room do you need really?....

Another vote for Western Digital - I've got the 250Gb 'My Book' (Amazon I think...about £60). Works great.

Very compact, USB connection, easy-peasy set-up.

La Cie make top stuff or Seagate. If its important documents go for top brands like these 2.
