Good evening all . I`m travelling early morning from Teesside down to Manchester Airport in the car this coming Friday 5th September 2014.The Garmin suggests the M62 then the M60 on the East side of Manchester . I noticed that the M60 on the West side also also goes to the Airport.

Any views on which route to take would be appreciated .

Cheers

Harry

Where the M62 leaves the M60 at the Swinton junction is a well known choke point, and I'd guess that 90% of delays are around there. Going via Stockport is less bad IMO.

Bugger all in it . Eccles interchange can be really busy in the morning so might be better to go east.
If you are travelling outside of peak hours then either way will do it. Your worst part of the journey is most likely to be the M62 further north.

There isn't a good option but would definitely avoid the west side as you have the m61 to contend with that north West quarter is very busy and there are frequently accidents because of the crossover flow from entrance and exit.

Watch the speed cameras in the 50 section through Bredbury where the lanes narrow.

Harry go the Stockport route but that also depends on what time your there at before 7am not to bad after until 9.30am can be bad

Eastern side tends to be better, although, as mentioned above, it's busy around Stockport in the morning rush hours.

Used the Eastern route with no problems . Not surprising really as the journey to Manchester started from Teesside @ 4am & the return to Teesside started at 11.45pm . Still thanks again for the advice .

Cheers

Depends what early morning is.. Up to 6:30 am you are OK. Then hell opens.
