I have a 2000 model r1150.gs and I'm struggling to find a good vibration free place to mount it.
I currently have the migsel speeds mount but find it vibrates like crazy.
I also have a crossbow mount which works must better, but is out of my line of sight.

What does everyone else on here use? Any info or photo's would be much appreciated.

My satnav is a zumo 660

Cheers

Garry

Ram ball mount on the crossbar...

Hard to see in this pic, but it allows me a good view of the clocks and keeps the GPS right where I can see it.

Cheap, too!:thumb

Side shot of it;

I use the speedo Migsel mount with a Zumo 660 and don't get any bad vibration. Might be best to take a closer look and see what part is causing the vibration rather than getting another mount.

Agreed.

On my previous 1150, one side of the beak subrrame attachment points had snapped ......you can see it if you peer in.

After that, it vibrated a lot more.

I've checked my mounts for cracks etc and can't find anything amiss. I shall delve a little deeper today.

Thanks for all the replies.

I've got this Migsel one which is great until the road gets rough. It is/will be for sale very shortly as I'm going to replace it with this one instead.

Same set-up and never had any vibration what-so-ever. FWIW I'm using the short RAM ball arm - not sure what impact that may or may not have on any vibration.

You can make something using rubber silent blocks to isolate from road and engine vibes.

Same as you, no problems

This works OK for me in normal road use. Until I tightened the Ram arm properly, it would sometimes shake loose and "droop". Note short Ram arm, not tried a long one.

I have tried every combination with the Migsel mount, including long and short arms and have tighted it correctly, but still it vibrated or drooped.
I have went back to my old crossbar mount set up which works fine, but just means i have to look a bit lower to see it.
Thanks for the input and help fella's its just a shame no one makes a screen brace like on the 1200gs as that would be perfect.

Garry, I would urge you to persist mate. I had a near-miss through looking down at sat-nav, which is why I got the Migsel, so it could go in my line of sight. Can't see why yours can't be stable if mine and others are - there must be something you are missing I guess.

i've persisted and tried everything with the migsel and according to other forums it appears to be a problem some people are bothered with and others arent, i have checked and double checked everything suggested and still the satnav wobbles and bounces everywhere.
As i have tobinators fitted i may fabricate up some brackets to mount on the bottom 2 fixings on each side and allow me to make a crossbar to mount between each side and fix the satnav high up in that way.

Z-technik make a bigger screen for the GS that has a cross brace like goes on the 1200. I wonder if that could be shopped separately?

Mine did too, on a Migsel mount, so I sold it

Now mounted on the handlebar clamp bolts with a ram mount ball for £8

Steady as a rock now, I'll dig out a pic later

Mine was the same with the Migsel, and being in the centre it also felt like it was constantly drawing my eye, like a TV screen in a bar. I've gone old-school with a U-bolt RAM mount on the rise of the left 'bar.
