Hey!!

New on here and was wondering the best seat to buy. I've had my GS since new in 2006 and have never been crazy about the seat (my old 1150 seamed much better). Not worried about height cause 2 adjustments are fine. Guess I'm debating between Sargent or Touratech, but any other suggestions/ recommendations would be most welcome?

Tom

Standard height Sargent for me... No more sore arse :)

Thanks, kinda thought that, but was delaying forking out the £530 :(
Ordered it now though.

Thx

Before you try another seat, try raising the front and keeping the back on the low setting, effectively levelling the seat.

Yes that's marvellous but what is it you're actually selling.........

I,"m not sure wot it is, but he has had 4 replies !! Keep up the good work !:bounce1

To be honest, it just looked better quality than the Touratech. I've bought a few things from Touratech and although fit for purpose - always a little overpriced in my opinion. Plus, always been happy with yank upholstery stuff in general. Have Corbin leather on another bike. Personal preference really.
PS. Apologies for posting on wrong forum, but got good responses - so no harm/ foul?! lol

Seat

Yup, I hear where you are coming from.. So enjoy !! Happy riding. :clap

If I'm doing more than 200 miles in a stint, the seat does start to get a bit uncomfortable. By far the cheapest option is a pair of cycle shorts. I did 1200 miles in 4 days around Scotland without any butt or back problems with some £15 gel shorts. They can't be seen under textiles or jeans and don't get sticky or smelly with modern materials.

Several of the seats put your butt in one spot, what if you want to move about?

Iv tried both touratech & sargent but kept the sargent it depends on your butt & how you get on with the shape, pan shaped is said to be best for long distance or you can get other shapes gel or various forms of foam.

It'll cost you £400+ to buy a few & try them then sell off what you don't like, sadly a bike designed to go round the world with bad seating :blast

I bought a Sergent 3 years ago and have found it very comfortable and well made. I tend not to carry pillions so I just bought a matching cover for the pillion (which was very easy to fit) to keep the cost down.:thumb2

FWIW I have tried all sorts including reshaping and gel insert. A sergeant seat did it for me (along with an air hawk for long days in the saddle and/or padded cycle shorts). Money very well spent.

Well, I got Sargent seat and definitely vast improvement - rode to Applecross in comfort. I was looking for 2nd hand too, but TBH the extra £300 isn't that much if you ride a lot...................plus I've forgotten about cash forked out already :)

I don't have especially long legs and found the Sargent seats dig into my thigh and especially bad when in traffic. Inner/back of thigh gets sore with foot dropping down every few minutes. People with maybe an inch more leg length would not get the problem.

The Kahedo low height made the handlebars feel like ape hangers. The Kahedo standard height suits me well - comfortable but has no edge to dig into my inner thigh. The next higher Kahedo is even better when seated, but the floor reach is a little too much of a stretch for me.

I had a Corbin on the Yamaha Diversion 900. On the move, it was loads better than the standard seat, but in traffic the thigh digging issue got bad enough for me to stop using it. The Divvie 900 does not have an especially high seat height.
