£5.85 to re-set the service indicator.

12k service at 11 months. First line - BMW service - £29.25 :(

First time with full synthetic oil - £52.20!

Total bill £319.04

I just wish they'd give you a price and charge it. When you see it broken down you just feel fiddled with don't you.

This has occurred to me. Next time is just an oil change - probably within my capabilities.

I will be charing myself £5 for wiping my hands afterwards though.

yes the charge was for insurance, garages have large insurance bills for all those test rides, sadly they claw some of it back on rentals during services.

Wasn't a rental or insurance issue.

I'm actually not bothered with the total bill, steep as it is. It did inclue ALL fluids being changed and valve clearances being checked. It's this bloody 'Dynamic Servicing' that BMW have come up with. I'd much rather just have a single line for labour and a break down for parts and fluids.

The dealer I used are first rate in service and quality. They go out of their way to help with loaners and support. It's the style of billing makes it look like penny pinching and pettiness. No test ride fee though.

when it comes to servicing my GS (got to get it first :augie) - I'll gladly pay the fee as i will try out a random bike. Maybe an RT or something like that.

Not seen a BMW service bill yet so i can't really comment.

Well there you go you can make yourself a couple of £5.85's by advertising that alone :D

Since I'm happy to be able to add 6K onto 6K and work out for myself that the next service is due at 12K miles, I will ask the dealer not to reset the service interval reminder. I should therefore be £5.85 better off unless their reply is that it will invalidate the warranty if all service items are not done!:augie

I'm still umming and arring whether to extend the warranty or not next year as well as get the bike dealer serviced. I'm sure I can do all the service items myself (other than the diagnostic items) but if I get a failure I'm concerned they will conclude its my servicing that has caused it.

BMW dealers seem to need to charge the earth to recover the considerable overheads associated with running a BMW branded franchise . I go here now for all my service requirements and never gasp at the price or feel in any way let down :

A great guy who knows BMW's inside out ; thoroughly recommended to any BMW owner within a couple of hours ride - plus free courtesy bikes.
