Just had my 6k service at Bahnstormers on my 09 1200GS and then rode the 200 miles up north. Terrible windy day but to
my surprise I got 52 mpg as opposed to the 42mpg that I normally get. Any ideas why?

New software...i had mine in for software upgrade and 20000 km service. The fuel consumption went down by 1L/100km

funny enough...

I was thinking about posting the same thing last night, just had my 12k service a few weeks back, and treated the bike to a powercommander III (second hand from a fellow tosser), stock exhaust etc.. I saw 62mpg, but went down to 56.6mpg over 55 miles. Was sorely tempted to pull over for petrol to see how close this was (as I always reset mpg/mileage counter after filling up). Couldn't be arsed in the end.

I have no reason to not believe this figure, as it now seems to sip fuel, even with my style of riding (could be described a enthusiastic).

Btw, the Powercommander is a nice bit of kit, fitted in minutes and does make a difference. Not majorly faster, but much much smoother fuelling (especially around the 5k rpm black-hole), which is all I can ask for, but looking forward to upgrading the header pipes later this year.

Cheers - dan
