I just spent 20 mins typing on my iPhone, had a drink and lost everything I'd just typed. So here's the shortened version. A BIG thanks to Tim.... I stopped to buy water, returned to find the guys chatting to some bloke I had never met, but recognised instantly. We told Tim we were heading to see the Erb (Sahara sand dune, for the un-educated) he offered to get us closer than most tourists get...... Oh, yes....... First bit was hard work, but do-able.
Next thing, our 1200s were fighting the invisible sand. I made it hrough my first patch. The second bit of soft sand was a real surprise... Fought it for what seemed like an eternity, then the big girl went down. First ever time I dropped a bike. ( apart from getting knocked off last June). In our defense ...... The three bikes had each got us fatties and two weeks' holiday stuff, plus tools and spares. So yes, we were heavy !
the full story will be posted in our ride report. Tim updated neils garmin in the middle of the sahara... Added routing capibity and a route to Bikershome.
Today..... Cracking days ride. Temps in early 30s. Landed in Marakesh for our last night. Booked into the 5 star Riu resort.... Luxury all inclusive and full of Brits. Carlsberg don't do bike trips....... But if they did.......
Marrakesh will have to wait till our next trip.
