I decided to get a few mods underway on my 08 GS today. I'm been meaning to get some fog lights for a while and took the plunge with an OEM BMW retrofit fog lamp kit. A bit scary but the BMW dealer I bought them from supplied a print out of the install and while a bit scared at removing the tank, it went pretty well!

Tomorrow I'll install the Autocom system, PTT and Sargent seat. Just stapled on the rear seat cover and looks pretty good for £30!

Will post some pics up tomorrow of the work in progress! Saved myself a good few hundred quid doing it myself over the local dealer.... :)

So here are the pics.

Taking the bike to bits to fit the wiring for the fogs, relays and route the Autocom PTT. Wasn't too bad to be honest. I taped the bolts next to every place they went making fixings easier. Big tank bolts torqued to the correct NM...

I installed the Autocom in the tool box, soldered wire to the Red/Green Autocom suggest and a Japanese bullet on each side for quick release. The only modification was a small hole for the wiring to go through so I can use the under tool box space for the unused pillion lead and other wires. The unit is held by high strength velcro onto the toolbox.

Rear tank bag (£22) holds the radio, tools, puncture repair and ipod!

The Autocom PTT switch was taken apart as suggested by Autocom and instant gasket applied to waterprooof.... You can see the new fog light switch here.

Fog's attached - look great!

Sargent Seat fitted, although it hasn't been sat on yet and is back in the box for now until tomorrows long run is through...

The rear seat I upholstered myself with the Sargent cover to match, not too bad and original cover underneath.

Very pleased with this overall, along with the Pivotpegz, it's become near perfect! :)

Nice work.

I see you've run the AutoCom rider's lead up front and stuck it on using the new dust cap style holders. Unless Autocom have massively improved the 3M stick pads recently you may find the holder becomes unstuck very easily as I kept knocking the thing when mounting/dismounting etc. Eventually I gave up and just have the lead poking up through the seat gap on the RHS.

It gave up within 5 minutes and came off at the rubber bit. It's stuck fast to the paint, not the rubber bit!

I'm going to ask for another or come up with my own solution! :)
