Local Evening Leader paper, has an article tonight about Cheif Constable Brunstrom calling for a Ban on motorcycles the snowdonia national park after two more bikers died near Trawsfynydd..

Total of 12 bikers this year have died on our north wales roads.. and seven of those in the last month alone.

So expect a very heavy clamp down next year and even more calls to have bikes banned. I have not had the split on where they came from, or the attributed causes yet, probably wont be out to us joe public till new year, but it appears the majority trend of non locals dying is likley to have continued.

The figures are a total trajedy, not just for the lives lost and families involved, but the potential impacts these year on year horrendous figures are likley to have on our enjoyment of this part of this country.

I can't honestly see how banning bikes from the National Park will change anything other than where people kill themselves.
But I guess tourists in cars are scared to death as fast bikes are riding around them, then witnessing the road closures and aftermath of the unfortunate bikers doesn't exactly fit in with the NP ethos.

I've complained about it before on here and elsewhere, eventually something will be done......I just hope one of the feckers doesn't overcook a bend and ride into me or anyone I know in the meantime:mad:

how many of the biker deaths involved, cars at fault, bad road conditons, lack of road repairs or the bikers at fault themselves.

I reckon the last three options should come under the same heading if the accidents are bike only related. If you want to ride a road fast for fun I would think that a quick recce first would be a good way of asessing the problems that you could encounter before your flying lap. Even professional racers do loads of practice laps before they go hell for leather.

majority of accidents on roads in my locality are caused by visiting bikers , who are unacustomed to riding at higher speeds on roads with bends in them , as i live in wales and tend to ride quite a lot in the north i can see the visitors just by their lack of confidence and inability to read the road properly

Whilst attending a First Biker on Scen first aid course today I was talking to a police biker who said the group of bikers from Stoke on Trent were using the road to ride one direction then turn around and ride back.

One biker overcooked a left hander and landed in a culvert, shortly after a second rider of the same group did exactly thing except he hit a touring bike coming the opposite direction, killing them both.
