Its a '99 1150 so a single spark; I washed it a couple of weeks ago and it ran rough for a few miles (like it was only running on one cylinder) then it was fine. Last week, on a full tank and having done a good 40 miles at 80, the same thing happened again. I managed to limp home and I havent managed to start it again. Its got a new battery in it, and so far I've changed the Hall sensor, replaced the fuel filter and the HT leads but still no joy. I've got decent sparks on both sides, and fuel's getting through the injectors but it wont start! Any ideas what to look at next? Help would be very much appreciated from your collective wisdom!

I've heard of similar problems due to water in the fuel tank :nenau

spark and fuel..should go:nenau is the pump priming up when you put the ing on..about 2 sec's the stops?

full tank so I think the fuel is ok, and the pump primes-like you say spa the pigging thing should go but doesnt. The nearest its got to it was a flame coming out the exhaust! Could the coil be good enough to produce weak sparks but not enough to ignite it?

The tank maybe full, but is it full of petrol, or is there a layer of water in the bottom of the tank and the bike is trying to start using water?

Coil !

Mine did that especially when you gave it a bit of welly

Gotta couple of cracker bangs out of the barsteward scared me as much as the cage drivers

had the same thing happening to me and it was the coil; it is a 1100 and it died after a pressure wash :|

one thing to check for HES that I do when my bike does not start is put it in 5th, and them try to move it back and forward and see if the pump works with ignition on; this is only sure if a HES is completely dead, if it works when cold but not when heated, it is not relevant.

just before you do I remember something that happened to chooned's bike

If you take the wire at the coil off take a look and see if one of the actual female metal connectors is almost corroded or is corroded right thru?

EDIT bike side of wiring!

Coil-that sounds plausible! Any way of testing it? Sorry to sound stoopid Dancata-whats HES?

to test a coil you need a ohmeter; do this:

I can't understand why gs coils have that 21$ wire and rt's don't; and a rt coil work just great on a GS :rob
