Was knocked off the bike on Wednesday while filtering. Third party admitted liability right away but thought it would have been good to have had a bike cam !

I have a dash cam in be car but it's too big for the bike. Has anyone fitted one of the really small cameras to their bike and if so which one and how did you fit it.

Bike going in for repair soon, only £2,500 of damage ! Plus helmet and gloves

Sorry to hear about your accident and I hope all they damage was to metal and plastic.

I've been thinking about getting a camera for the same reason. Also be nice to have some footage when I go away on trips etc. Unsure whether a camera mounted on the bike or a helmet cam would be best. Interested to hear what other people's thoughts are.

I have a SJ4000 action cam fitted behind the screen on my bike, it's a £40 GoPro copy which works really well. It has a dashcam mode so it auto starts and loops recordings in 5 minute chunks.

Drift Stealth 2 is what I use. Good size, great clarity. Doesn't look like a brick sticking out from the side of your helmet. The great thing with it is, as it is on a helmet, invariably you want to mount it on the side and there is a curve to your helmet. So with a normal video cam your image would also be at an angle off horizontal. The Drift lens can be rotated and after a couple of fine tuning tests the image is perfectly horizontal. Also the mount supplied rotates up and down so again you get the right angle and not pointing down at the ground or up in the air. Mine cost £145 I believe. Very pleased.

I really like the look of the Innovv C3, just a matter of sneaking it past she who must be obeyed.

For safety and insurance purposes it would also be good to have a rear-facing camera - but it all adds to the costs...

I'm also thinking about a fixed camera on the bike after mine.
Only got as far as googling them at the moment though.

He may have admitted liability at the time but his insurance company may take a different view. Received wisdom on accidents whilst filtering points to a tendency for 50/50 settlements. Might be worth doing your homework along the lines suggested by Scotboxer. This also reinforces your thoughts about the potential value of an onboard camera. Good luck with the claim and getting back on the road.

The problem with the Innovv C3 is the cable to the recorder. Ok if it's fixed to the bike, inconvenient if on the helmet.

I have two DogCam Bullet R+ cameras on my RT, one on the front under the headlight, and one on the offside frame inbetween the panier and rear mudguard.

They are on loops and as long as the lenses are clean, record good quality HD footage.

I've thought about these a few times. Innovv C3 looks good but not good reviews. Is there a cam that can be hard wired to bike, fit and forget? So, it will turn on/off with ignition, and loop the recording. Also, I can't see a power point on my 2006 1200GSA?

There's a power outlet just under the front of the tank, that's where I took the supply for my 'DashCam'. To re-iterate what I said before, I use a GoPro clone (SJ40000 that cost £40 from eBay. It powers on when I start the engine and powers off once I stop the engine, it records in 10 minute segments. If I'm parking somewhere dodgy it's just a matter of removing the cam from the waterproof case.

I was originally was looking at the latest Innovv camera as it's permanently mounted but there are too many threads about poor firmware for my liking.

In the interest of full disclosure, the first unit I had broke. The USB charging socket broke off, seemingly a not uncommon problem with these, but the seller sent me a new one and let me keep the old one which I now use when cycling!

I recently bought this little kit.
It was marketed as the Goldstar onboard 2 camera HD GPS DVR motor sport kit. But I can no longer see it on their website.
Comes with all sorts of mounts and all the gubbins to wire it up to the bike and will run off the ignition in a permanent loop (up to the capacity of the SD card) recording a separate stream for each camera not picture in picture.
Kit was circa 500 quid.
I've yet to fit it to the bike but the little bullet cams are discrete enough to be mounted anywhere on the bike.

Received new helmet, gloves and a wee bit of personal injury compensation but nothing makes up for being knocked off the bike. My confidence has been well and truly hammered Still I am ok and bike will be back to normal soon.
