I was thinking of upgrading and im looking for advice.I have a 05 GS1200 im looking at coming up 2-3 years.Theres 42000k on mine,what is this worth,is it better selling privately or trading in.I was also looking at an 800GS what is your opinion on these.

Don't know about value. Always better to walk into a dealer with cash though.
As regards the 800, my biggest problem with them is the fact that they are chain driven and not shaft. I hate all that messin with Scott oilers and greasing the chains, but then its everyone to themselves.

Is there more maintenance with the chain driven bike?I could really do with some of your opnions please lads and lassies.Am I mad changing from 1200 to 800.

Yes, pure mad. What's wrong with the 1200 you have? 42K miles or kms?

42000kms I was just looking for some confirmation that I was doting,coming home from work this evening my 1200 is too nice to drive.I have a 05 if I can afford it I might come up a couple of years what do ye rekon I would be spending with my own.

Probably expect to pay €1000 - €1500 a year to move up. Maybe a bit more if you are going to trade in.
