I cannot find a cover to fit my R1100GS right down to the ground. Please will some kind soul recommend one that is GS-shaped?

I bought an Oxford one in Large and it ties under the bike (mine's 1150GS). It doesn't quite cover the bottom of the wheels but it does disguise the shaft drive, which is more telling than a tyre!

I got a large nylon cover from M&P. Nuvo brand, XL size fits the GS. Cost 20 quid. It has a couple of vents which help prevent it billowing in the wind. You'll need a couple of bungee cords (or a webbing strap like you secure a suitcase with) to really secure it in fierce winds.
I've just checked www.mandp.com - they now sell it as on2wheels brand - it is part no. 500088

You'll find the bike covers under the "bike care" section or click "advanced search" and put the part no. in

I also got a large nylon cover from M&P. Nuvo brand, XL size...if you buy one be careful as they say silver base is heat resistant but it isn't! You'll have to wait a while before putting over bike!

I've never had to worry about that. My post ride routine negates the possibility.

On arriving home I park the bike on the sidestand. Leave it for aboout 30 mins having a coffee, get out of bike gear.

Then I return to the bike, pop it on the mainstand, check the oil, fit the lock & chain, fit the cover.

Leaving the bike for a while means I get reliable oil level readings and the exhaust cools enough so: I do not get scorched when fitting the chain around the front suspension and the cover does not get melted.

If you want to get posh these people - http://www.classicadditions.co.uk/ - will sell you a very nice cover that goes all the way to the ground at the back and sides (although the beak gives it problems at the front). I have one of these because I sometimes get up at 5:30am in the winter to commute and this keeps it very dry. Doesn't melt too easily either as it is protected inside... Even with a 52L Givi box on I can get the cover over it and it covers down to the bottom of the brake disks...
