I'm looking for a waterproof (and maybe breathable) cover for my R1200 GSA.
It's got to be big enough to cover the bike and metal panniers. Ideally be fairly compact when folded down and be nondescript looking (ie: it doesn't say BMW MOTORRAD across it - effectively saying 'for expensive bike, look under cover')

The cover is for the occasional time that I will park in cities whilst on tour and for when I leave it outside the other half's house when I visit. (Out of site, out of mind).

Any (sensible) ideas???

I use a Held Art 9003 cover, which was the RiDE magazine best buy three years ago and cost around £40 from memory. Waterproof, non-scratch on the inside, fits a GS easily and is secure even in strong winds. Mid-grey and anonymous-looking, I use it when I'm touring over the water and have found it does make the bike look anonymous and uninteresting.

Thanks guys.

I've found a good cover. At Hein Gericke. Lightweight and compact like the suggestions on this link. And plain black and unobtrusive. Covers the whole bike including the panniers. Perfik!

Which one Wingit...I was looking at the Hein Gert ones the other day. They had Oxford ones and their own......needs to cover boxes in situ too. One of theirs had flock on the inside and waterproof outer.

Wait till it arrives and then give some feedback as to what you reckon to it please. I was going to get another one of the plain ones form Stoke on Trent (Bike Covers) - the one I have works, but was a cheapy and no lining on the underside, just a "nylon" (I don't know what the actual material is) cover really

KIng Rat,

It's Heine Gericke's own make. It's plain black nylon type material. It's got some kind lining on the inside. Not thick furry stuff. Just I kind of anti-scratch finish I guess. It is absolutely perfect for my GSA. It covers the whole bike including the Touratech/BMW metal panniers. It rolls up really small too.
The only negative point? A bit expensive at 50 quid but it is the extra large cover. Hope this helps mate. I am very happy with mine.

Cheers, Ken

£50 isn't that expensive. My cheap, nothing on the back one from the chaps in Stoke-on-Trent was just shy of £40 3 years ago...so a good deal by the sound of it.

I'll go and find one as I don't have a shed. Well, I do, but I live in it.:D
