Its a GS.. the last thing i worry about is it getting wet. Cover i have is an oxford. Fairly lightweight.. has a lot in common with a Tent flysheet. So.. although it will keep most of the rain off the bike it is by no stretch of the imagination 100% waterproof. This is how i want a cover to be. I want it to be breathable and not - in the sun: a 'steambox/sauna'

Never had an issue with melting. I'll leave it about 10 minutes until i put the cover on. if the bike happens to get wet in the meantime. Thats not a worry: Its a GS.

If its absolutely bucketing down and i can't be bothered going outside.. so be it. Nothing to worry about.

Its a GS

Thank you for the replies.

motobiker the main issue with the cover is not rain or dust protection, but making it less visible to people walking by my property at night. If they can see what it is, it is less likely they will think about f.... with it. At least that is what I hope for.

All the more reason to opt for something 'non-descript' - put on a fancy cover and the bike may be fine.. but the cover itself is likely to get nicked. Is the bike kept on the road? or out front.. on a driveway. no chance of getting it hidden away? I keep mine round the back of my house - well out of sight.

Hi,

It is on the front garden sort of area. The back could be done, but need to fix the access area first and that could take me years:blast

I am also looking into using an anchor point, but had not had the chance yet to do some research. Any recommendations for an anchor point which will not require me to pull out a cement mixer would be much appreciated :thumb2

thanks

For a few years I had used a Hein Gericke cover which was not bad but lasted only 4 years until water leaked through.
A work mate with a 800GS shown me his BMW bike cover and I liked it.
I got the same cover and I am very happy with it.
It is black, has a few good features with vents, clear window for number plate and lockable to the frontwheel spokes via padlock. :thumb2
Its easy to pack away again and it comes in a transport bag as well.
I think it is around 50 pounds or so...
