I moved house recently and no longer have a garage, which I didn't think would be a problem as I thought I could fit the bike down my back entry (no jokes please). However, the GS is too wide so I have been forced to leave her on the drive. Does anyone have any advice on which covers are best as the one I bought from Halfords barely covers the fuel tank despite being described as large. What about a bike barn? Anyone got one?

Hi,

I got an Oxford XL. Fits the bike well even with panniers. I previously had one from Argos, lasted 2 years and started to fall appart.
Oh, i have a 1150GS

I too have an Oxford XL, and it is big enough to go over my K1200RS with panniers on. Won't quite go over the 800GS as the tin boxes are too wide, but it goes over without them and comes almost to the floor.

Sorry to hijack thread but just had a botched theft attempt on my 12GS from communal underground garage... this is second attempt and cops are again recommending I store it outside with cover on...

I use it most weekends and maybe the odd midweek but not everyday... my concern is whether it would rust up even with cover on??:nenau

Anyone longterm store outside that can comment??

My GS stays outside all the time and is rarely used during the week. Spray with GT85 and it will stay as mint even when covered in 24" of Snow for three weeks.

My 06 GS lives outside here in Normandy all year round under a Motrax cover. No probs except for bleaching by the sun turning it to pale grey in 6 months or so. Shouldn't be a prob. in Uk.
Oh yes, £40 by mail order.

They did one for my H-D SuperGlide that also fitted my ElectraGlide and now fits perfectly over my GS12 with cases and topbox on.
Made from breathable/waterproof material and less than £40 about four years ago.
If they need to fit up a bike let me know,I'm only about 20 miles away from them.
I now ride into Harley rallies with the cover on,they'll never know :D

My 06 GS has only been indoors for about 10 days of its whole life. Still in pretty good nick, just a wee bit orange on a few of the front disc bolts/bobbins, thought a cover would lead to condensation so didn`t bother. I used to keep a ZZR1100 outdoors and it was perfect.......until I put an oxford cover on it.

Yep, I have one too and it straps under the bike (standard GS) and also you can put a bungee through two holes it has through the front wheel

I used to put my lock through those holes so`s nobody would nick the cover and they could see that whatever was underneath was locked.

In a related question......

Being a bit a a fair weather rider:eek: I'm looking at buying a 'bike barn' at the moment, anyone out there use one? Will a GSA fit in one?
