Hi Folks, my RT has just had a 6,000 mile service and on the plus side the gear change feels a bit less likely to find false neutrals but the overall engine feels a bit rough compared with before. I am putting this down to thinner gear box oil.

Any thoughts ?

Williams?

They will have messed up the throttle bodies balance.
My last 3 services there have all left the bikes with problems.

Take it to Jono at the Adventure Bike Warehouse.

Actually.... No that's wrong.... Your bike's shagged. Might as well swap it for my 1200R :augie

I doubt they went anywhere near the throttle bodies Stan as the bike has only 4800 miles on it. Of course I'll swap, .... Your R for a mountain bike.

I am not happy to be gazumped so I will put the stabilisers back on he mountain bike and a wee pink tinker bell horn that I found!

you can get a Thomas the Tank egine bell from Halfords ?

Back on topic

Sorted the bike yet?
What was it?

We need a Northern Chapter ride-out as soon as my bikes run-in :)

Mine goes in for it's 6000 miles service at Jefferies on Thursday. I hope it comes back feeling fresher as no doubt it'll cost a bloody fortune including the annual service :(

Hi Substan, no not sorted yet. Changed the tyres to Pr3s and bloody good they are too but they didn't fix the engine. It's going in again to Williams on Friday as their mech thinks it might be the throttle bodies. Buzzes like a bastard now around 3800 revs and ruins the ride. We will see! Having thrown a complete wobbler in he middle of the showroom when they fecked up the painting on my top box for a third time and then tried to refuse to fix it, I am trying to be a good boy and give them a chance. However it stacks like this so far:

5 visits and one wobbler over he top box painting, damage, reprinting, more damage etc issue ( without ever getting the box out of he showroom

Off the road for a month at about 1000 miles when he switches on the left bar gave up, then tank panels not replaced properly so had to dismantle at home and put back on.

In for 6,000 service, comes out worse than when it went in! In fairness though they did he service at 6000 for free cos of he top box issues.

A northern chapter ride out would be good when you get your new steed:blagblah

Just need an EWs and FPC issue to make the whole experience rounded

Stan piccies of the new Bike please! Btw there's a big boys 4 day trip to Ireland on bikes in July ....

Williams....

My last 3 visits through their workshop have left my bikes with faults:
1) GS throttle bodies so far out of balance, the bike was almost unrideable.
2) RT fairing panels left hanging off (screws not replaced)
3) Picked up the 1200R from them (it had been "checked over" by their workshop) and very nearly binned it at the traffic lights right outside their showroom. Tyre pressures were 18 and 24 psi :blast

I've got the new RT booked in there for its first service in 8 day's time. Really object to giving them so much money to do a (probably) crap job, but what are the options?

Jono at the ABW is THE man, but don't think BMW warranty recognises him.

When in July is your Ireland trip?
I'm off to Germania, Austria and Italy for the first 2 weeks in July. Around after that though. Got a pass-out for the summer too :aidan

Picked mine up from Jefferies today and its running smoother and feeling healthier - but so it should for £327 for a 6k + annual service

Wait till you get the 12k service... Woooooo that was shock

The Ireland trip is probably first weekend in July depending on others availability. Bike still not sorted so may go and see Jono. It has a big flat spot now between 70 and 80 (where the law allows) and is running a bit like a tractor. This is after the throttle bodies have been re balanced. My old hex head GS ran smoother than this new TC. I it had been like that all along though I wouldn't have known any different, but prior to the service it was really smooth

so .... back in again all day Wednesday. Loan bike is a 2012 RT which runs nicely. the difference is obvious. On examination I am told that the engine is fine, the throttle bodies have been set up again and there was nothing wrong ! But, the exhaust baffle has come loose so they are putting on a new exhaust within warranty. Will be picking it up later. I am not convinced though that they have got to the problem especially if they believe there was nothing wrong in the first place.

We will see!

So after all, there was a problem with a "cam shaft ring sensor" whatever one of those is. So new sensor, new exhaust and normality is restored. Pity it took 3 visits to get it sorted. And this morning there was"nothing wrong with your bike". Anyway alls well that ends well!

Good to hear that there WAS a fault, and they've found and fixed it.

Just had the first service done on mine; all seems ok. Exhaust flap seems a bit squeaky; will see how that fares!
I've been getting a bit anxious about the running in schedule, but all done now.

Roll on some summer trips :beerjug:

Good man. Still haven't seen any pictures ? Ireland trip now postponed to October and to avoid he rain it may become a continental trip instead ....
